my-favorite-things

Happy birthday, linkup! <3 This month marks one year of My Favorite Things, the linkup for all the things you love. Thank you so much to everyone who submitted and made mine and Eirene‘s little idea into a success. I hope to keep seeing all of your faves in the future, and discovering even more awesome stuff!

After last month’s skincare linkup, I decided to try out a few new products. I don’t have many steps to my routine, and I don’t hoard a lot of products, so I figured I could afford to spend a little more on products that I love and work well for me. Here are the latest additions to my skin (and hair) care!

Clarins Gentle Care Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate

Clarins bottle

I’ve heard so many good things about this Clarins serum for sensitive skin for years. I finally gave it a try and the reviewers were all right; this thing is amazing! It’s calmed down any minor skin flareups I’ve had. It is very pricey, so I only use this on spots that need them.

Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle 12 Percent

AHA tube

I wanted to do mild chemical peel, but my mom recommended that I try Alpha Hydrox first. After a few days of using this at night, I definitely saw a difference. My skin looked smoother and brighter. Combined with my Clarins serum, my skin has never looked better.

Agadir Hair Products

Agadir shampoo and conditioner

Agadir is another line that I’ve heard great things about. I also don’t hoard a lot of hair products, so I feel like I can afford to splurge on this. :) First off, the shampoo and conditioner smell HEAVENLY. It’s a very clean, kind of powdery scent. It’s not overbearing and it does fade, so in my experience you can only smell it in the shower. They’re both sulfate-free and paraben-free which are perfect for my color-treated hair. I also have the hair serum for after blow drying.

Special mention: Gangsta.
Mara recommended Gangsta. to me, and I watched the first nine episodes in one afternoon. I still need to finish it!

That’s it for my super quick post! I’m about to go to bed because I’ve had a looong day here in New York, but it was a ton of fun! More on that soon. ;) For now, here are the rules (more like guidelines) if you’d like to show is what you’ve been loving. :D

  1. Wow, it’s that time of the month already? Time flies by quick!

I might give Clarins a try one of these days. My skin is pretty sensitive and maybe this can do the trick. Though I have to finish my other skincare products first XD. The hair product looks interesting. $20 for the shampoo sounds expensive but if it does the trick, I think it’s worth it. The only thing I don’t dig is the font they used. Why Papyrus???? XD

    1. Haha I don’t mind that Papyrus too much! I don’t look at the bottle very much in the shower. I have the 1L pum bottle coz I got a good deal. :3

    1. It did clear my dark spots but it seems to be a slow process. I might need something stronger. One thing though, if you do an AHA regimen, you need to wear SPF in the daytime. It makes your skin more photosensitive, so it’s more ideal to use it in the colder months when the sun isn’t up as long. I also noticed my face has been looking redder than usual since I started.

  2. Oh I completely forgot about the one year anniversary! Yay happy 1st birthday linkup~!

Is that chemical peel you use the type of chemical peel where you have to start wearing SPF for your skin? I’ve been a little hesitant to try peels because my current moisturizer doesn’t have SPF haha.

  3. Wow! Happy one year :D

I might look into the Clarins serum. My skin is otherwise tame, but I have this flare up that keeps reappearing and I’m like, “Goddamn you!”

I don’t watch much anime, but Gangsta sounds interesting

    1. I think the Clarins serum is worth it! It’s also great with my breakouts. Helps them dry out faster. Not instantly, but they don’t last for days and days like they used to. :D

  4. Happy one year to this wonderful link-up! I haven’t joined it yet, though. And must I say, I love the products you listed down here. Would help me in hunting down the kind of TLC my skin needs.

  5. Happy birthday to your linkup! That’s awesome that it’s been going for a year now :D

Oohh, I’m interested in trying Alpha Hydrox. That’s great that you’re already seeing a difference from it. I’ve also been meaning to switch to a sulfate-free shampoo. That’s a plus that it smells good too!

    1. Alpha Hydrox is great, but you need to wear sunblock! I’ve already been doing that but it’s definitely something to consider.

  6. Ooo! Happy birthday to this link up! I’m planning to join in this November! :D

I’m going to have to check these items out, I’ve been so poopy with my skin care routine lately, it’s crazy!

  7. Congratulations on the linkup turning one, that is so wonderful. :D

That’s great that the Clarins serum works! It’s really good when the reviews about something are right, and when they say gentle care, it’s accurate!

So great that you found products that can really help your skin and make it look so good. :D

    1. Thank you Kya! <3 I tend to read negative reviews too and it makes me hesitant, but I've learned to trust in the general consensus. XD

  8. One of these days I’m going to participate in your linkup because I love reading everyone else’s “Favorite Things” posts. :)

I’m pretty simplistic with my routine… and by that I mean I don’t really do anything, lol. My skin is very sensitive, so I find that spending money on most products just gives me itchy, irritable, red skin. :(

    1. You’re free to join us anytime. :D

It’s really hard to find products that work with sensitive skin! For me, it’s usually drugstore moisturizers and anything with a strong fragrance.

  9. I really wanna try these products if they are really available in our place. Seems like it’s really good for your skin. And I should try this linkup as well for me to have something to post too other than all ootds. HAHAA!
