Welcome to My Favorite Things, the monthly linkup for everything you love. Join me and Eirene and let us know what your faces are this month! She’s hosting so check out her blog for all the entries.

This is gonna be a quick entry for me, so let’s get to it!

Hustle Cat

I played through Hustle Cat over my vacation, and it’s so adorable! It’s a visual dating novel about Avery Grey who works in a cursed cafe that turns its employees into cats when they leave the premises. Your job is to figure out the curse and help break it. Like most dating games, you need to play all the routes to get the full backstory. They were all fun and adorable. Hayes is my favorite route! It’s just so cute and happy.

I also like that the game is inclusionary compared to other otome games. As Avery, you can choose your gender and what pronouns you want to be addressed by (he/she/them), and you can switch them anytime. You can romance anyone regardless of gender (there are three men and two women). Mason is my waifu.

So I totally meant to blog more often this month. I had several posts planned and drafted for publishing, and then Overwatch happened. It’s a multiplayer FPS, and I’m a little obsessed. It’s just fun to play with Mike and friends. We haven’t played co-op in a while, so it’s great to be playing together again. I’m not a stellar player by any means, but I’m having an awesome time. Overtime matches give me so much life.

Skin Care

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence

Tara gifted me the Benton Box from Memebox sometime ago. Thank you so much! It’s a really good box. You get a lot of products for what you pay for. I especially like the Snail Bee Essence. Feels great on my skin, and a little goes a long way! Whenever I slack on my nighttime routine (happens too often ), I make sure to apply this and my Strivectin at the very least.

Silicon Valley

Mike signed up for a month’s free trial of HBO Now, and I’ve been making the most of it. I started watching Silicon Valley and it’s hilarious! It’s about a programmer named Richard who writes an impressive compression algorithm resulting in his startup called Pied Piper. Working in tech, I appreciate some of the antics they go through on an extra level. I can definitely identify with some of them. I use tabs, by the way. But my IDE converts them to spaces so idk lol.

That’s it for my faves! Check out the rules (more like guidelines) below to share yours.

  1. A little definitely goes a long way with that essence! I discovered that one pump is all I need for my face. I featured it on my post, too :D I’m glad you’re liking that product! I found that the essence is really the best of the Snail Bee line.

  2. I’ve been meaning to watch Silicon Valley for quite a while after hearing positive feedbacks from my friends about it. Sadly, Game of Thrones always gets in my way. :)

But it’s on my list and if I’m not busy anymore, then I’ll watch this

      1. LOL Silicon Valley. I watched a few episodes, and a few of those scenarios reminded me of my past life (I live in the Bay Area, just three (small) cities north of San Jose, aka “The Capital of Silicon Valley”).

I’m curious about that snail bee essence. I’ve been addicted to essence lotions lately (mostly from The Body Shop), they make my skin so refreshed, day and night. Thanks for sharing!

I’ll work on submitting my favorite things entry. I haven’t been blogging as of late and I’ve got so many to share LOL. ^_^

  3. So tempted to get an HBO subscription too (since I still don’t have a TV in my apartment) but I already have both Netflix and Hulu. xD I’ve heard a lot about Silicon Valley and wish I could watch it too. Haha

  4. Hustle Cat sounds like a pretty neat game with it being about cats! I’ve seen a lot of my friends raving about Overwatch lately. I like how game’s graphics are “cute-oriented” compared to games like WoW/Tera. Gotta give it a try some day ;).

    1. Overwatch is a lot like Team Fortress 2, but with a lot more mass appeal. I love how colorful it is, and the lore is pretty good. :D

  5. everyone is playing overwatch! urgh, i’m so jealous. my boyfriend and i are the only one who don’t play it… it was first thought to be a free to play game…until Blizzard charged us for it. urgh. money has been burnt down for the division so i can’t buy overwatch, same goes for him. while our friends are busy playing overwatch, we’re still busy playing co-op challenges for the division :))

people have been comparing overwatch with destiny, hm… the only characters i know are, tracer and maybe genji. man, i’m really jealous of you guys :(

  6. WOW my friends have been talking about Overwatch so I wanted to check that out when I get the chance! I’m terrible at multiplayer games though :P I’m a really slow gamer so speed and action are not really my thing.

I looked up the Benton Box, and it’s actually made of snail slime? That’s really interesting!

You just reminded me to check out HBO Now during my month off. :P

    1. I’m not great at FPS either but it’s been a lot of fun. It just takes a lot of practice. XD

Snail slime is a thing in Korea at the moment! It’s supposedly has really good skin care properties. All I can say is that the snail bee essence is really working for me. :3

  7. I love Silicon Valley! I’m a few episodes behind on season 3, but it’s so funny, and I love that there is a show about the modern tech industry. Some of the situations hit a little too close to home though, and I find myself cringing, haha. (My work’s standard is spaces, so that’s what I’ve been accustomed to!)

  8. I am still not sure I understand what Overwatch is about even though I watched the trailer :D I just know so many people are talking about it!

I have to say, what is apparently an unpopular opinion, that I don’t particularly like Silicon Valley. I’ve watched everything that is out so far and find most of the characters SO. FRUSTRATING! They seriously drive me crazy :P

    1. Overwatch is a multiplayer FPS! The lore doesn’t play a huge part in the gameplay, but I like it a lot.

I understand about Silicon Valley. There’s a show for everyone! :D

  9. Hustle Cat is so cute!!! I’m thinking of purchasing it! I missed playing games like that, especially when I was on my early teens — I’ve played a lot of similar ones on Y8. Haha. Although, this one is better because it’s on desktop! My current watch right now is Big Bang Theory Season 9. Can’t wait for the next (and probably last) season!

    1. I love visual novels! They’re great for light gaming, and sometimes I don’t want to get too stressed out controlling my character’s every move.

  10. I wanted to play Hustle Cat but it’s not a free game. It seems fun tho!

I might try and watch Silicon Valley (when I find the energy). It kinda reminds me of The Big Bang Theory. I know just basic coding but I identify with programmers. :)

Btw, once you have more free time, Tanaka-kun is Always Listless > Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto :)

  11. Interesting game, but I pose a question to you: have you played Hatoful Boyfriend yet and if you have…did you like it? It’s supposed to be a parody or satire on the genre of dating SIMS which is refreshing and BIRBS(birds XD)

  12. Hustle Cat sounds like Neko Atsume on hormones. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Overwatch and it just makes me wish I had a gaming computer! But I don’t right now :c another game I was wanting to play was The Culling–watching my favorite Twitch streamer (Grimmybear) play it was what got me into it.

I’ve been loving Korean skincare recently. I’ve been using an oil cleanser from Julep with a konjac sponge, sheet masks from a variety of companies, and I got some samples from Nature Republic that I’ve been using (toner and a light moisturizer). I love how people freak out when they see bee or snail but honestly, if it works it works. Anyways, I think I’m going to make a switch to use 100% Korean skincare products. I just find them a lot lighter overall.

    1. I heard that Overwatch can run on a decent laptop if you have that! :D

I’ve been using Kiehl’s but I’m also thinking of switching to purely Asian skincare products because they work much better for me. I’m just waiting to finish all my bottles!

  13. Honestly, that doesn’t sound like a curse to me. I wouldn’t mind turning to a cat, haha. I adore them. I will definitely be checking Hustle Cat, though – visual dating novels always intrigue me. I see lots of apps in the App Store for them.

Silicon Valley looks hilarious! I saw a trailer for it before and was howling. Also Martin Starr from Freaks and Geeks !!!!

    1. I haven’t tried any visual novel apps since the ones I saw have microtransactions. I’d rather pay for the whole thing and not worry about stuff like that.

Let me know if you ever watch Silicon Valley! I love it so much. :D

  14. That game looks so cute! I’m going to have to look into that one. Also, thanks for the information on that face cream. I’m always on the look out for new face stuff to try because my skin on my face is so bipolar. One day it feels so greasy and then the next it looks dry and gross. Bleh!
