Thoughts on Cultural Identity

新年快樂! Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! That’s about the extent of my Mandarin knowledge besides “ni hao.” I am very slowly learning, but it’s not as quickly as my husband would’ve probably like. Well, had I known I was gonna marry a Taiwanese guy I might’ve taken Chinese in college instead of Japanese but what can you do.

My highlight of the new lunar year is my new cutout boots, and also red and gold nails. Just as planned!

Pretty Nails 2014

My new year’s resolution for this year is to do my nails more often. It’s something I used to enjoy immensely in college. I’d sit in front of my laptop and watch an episode of Desperate Housewives (don’t judge me) while I painted my nails. I got really good at it, and pretty soon I could finish a whole manicure in 20 minutes.

But then I let my nails go partly when I did more lab work in school, but mostly from laziness. Read more…

From the Ashes She Rose

Some six or so years later, here I am again. I can’t prove it but those who have stuck with me long enough will know that I used to own this domain back in my college days. It wasn’t much, just a little blog with a lot of prattle and indulgent selfies before the term was coined. I was part of a small, close-knit blogroll that unfortunately wilted one by one.
